Sinead O’Connor is a well known Irish singer, perhaps best known for her megahit ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ which is arguably one of the biggest hits of the 80s.

Since then though, and especially in recent years, it seems like Sinead has had somewhat of a meltdown, with this being confirmed in a 12 minute Facebook video posted to her own page yesterday. In the video, she reveals that she’s suffering from three different mental illnesses, has been abandoned by her family and is currently living in a Travelodge in the ass end of nowhere in New Jersey.

It’s a pretty upsetting watch, but you can see it below. There’s some quotes I’ve picked out underneath that too:

I hope that this video is somehow helpful. Not to me, but the fact I know that I am only one of millions and millions and millions of people who are just like me, actually, that don’t necessarily have the resources I have in my heart and my purse.

I am now living in a Travelodge motel in the arse end of New Jersey.

I’m all by myself. And there’s absolutely nobody in my life except my doctor, my psychiatrist – the sweetest man on earth, who says I’m his hero – and that’s about the only fucking thing keeping me alive at the moment, the fact that I’m his bloody hero… and that’s kind of pathetic.

Mental illness, it’s a bit like drugs, it doesn’t give a shit who you are. And you know what’s worse? The stigma doesn’t give a shit who you are.

Children of mine, why is it acceptable that your mother is living in a Travelodge? Am I not worth fighting for? I’m the mother of your children, John Reynolds, everything I gave you…

Yes I wrote some angry emails and some shit on Facebook… so what?

Geez. That really is sad and I’m not really sure what I can say or do about it. I hope sharing this video helps other people like she intends and I hope that she can get the help that she needs to get better and that her family come and help her out too. It’s really awful to see anyone in that way, especially after the recent suicides of Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington too. Our thoughts go out to you Sinead O’Connor.

For more details about what’s going on with Sinead, check this post from a while ago when she threatened to sue her whole family. Clearly not OK there.
