Since the publication of George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, the fear of having our lives watched has fallen and risen in equal measure as national security and privacy battle it out in a caged arena. Some claim that if you have nothing to hide, why worry at all. Others say that it is our right to live our lives without the overbearing eyes of CCTV littered around my cities. However, the fear of falling into a society gripped by totalitarian rule is still a possibility. Ok, so the government probably won’t ever become tyrannical bastards but they do still want to be omnipresent.
But let’s not get down with the ominous thoughts of oppression because this video (which is an advert for Coca-Cola but nobody needs to know that) highlights some delightful footage CCTV cameras have captured. It’s the kind of video that summons back your faith for human nature. It shows a very altruistic side to us and if that doesn’t cheer you up then you should seek counselling.
