Quentin Tarantino is renowned as the sharpest and wittiest writers and directors in the business today and many of his characters have easily risen to the status of iconic thanks to his skills.

But which one of them do you think has the honour of being his favourite? Vincent Vega? Mr Pink? Beatrix Kiddo? Jackie Brown? Django?

Surprisingly, it’s none of those characters as Quentin decided to reveal this tidbit of information at the Jerusalem Film Festival. Here’s who it is:

Jew Hunter

[Hans] Landa is the best character I’ve ever written and maybe the best I ever will write. I didn’t realize [when I was first writing him] that he was a linguistic genius. He’s probably one of the only Nazis in history who could speak perfect Yiddish.

Hmm. Not sure if Israel was the best place to make that joke Quentin but fair play for having the balls to say it.

Should we be surprised that The Jew Hunter is Tarantino’s favourite character? I mean maybe considering he’s written so many completely sick characters, but maybe not considering Christoph Waltz did win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for playing him and he is – for all intents and purposes – the definition of a ‘character’ with all the eccentricities that he displays during the movie. He’s also kinda different from the majority of character’s the Tarantino writes so that might have contributed to it somewhat too.

Did you hear what Tarantino’s favourite movie of last year was?
