Veganism is getting bigger and bigger in this country and it seems as though it’s no longer the hated subculture it once was, as more and more popular restaurant chains seem to be embracing it.

The latest of these is Pizza Express, which is even offering a whole three course menu. The chain have already offered their Pianta pizza (which you can see above) which consists of spinach, chestnut mushrooms, pine kernels and artichokes on a spicy Arrabbiata base for some time now, but they’ve actually specifically created a vegan dessert too now: the Coconut Delight. You can see this below.

Holly Davies –  Head of Food at Pizza Express – said the following:

Coconut Delight

There has been a significant rise in requests from our guests for more vegan-friendly meal options – particularly from fans on our social media pages which has promoted the new menu option.

The Coconut Delight promises to be creamy and delicious thanks to the mixture of coconut milk and shavings.

We suggest pairing it with olives and the Pianta for the perfect vegan three course meal.

Sounds pretty good if you’re vegan – and even if you’re not to be honest. Could still do with some cheese on my pizza though, even that weird vegan cheese.

In all seriousness though, it’s great that national restaurant chains are offering more options for vegans. Hopefully it won’t be too long before everyone follows suit and it’s a perfectly normal thing to see on the menu.
