It seems that when he isn’t shooting up or fronting (and usually slurring his words) the godawful indie band The Libertines, Pete Doherty actually dabbles in a bit of acting too. I guess he needs to do something to pay the bills.

Previously, he’s only starred in a movie called ‘Confessions Of A Child Of The Century’ which amazingly has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (although I can’t work out whether that’s because nobody went to see it or it just is that bad) and saw him star opposite Charlotte Gainsbourg in a French drama about an aristocrat in the 1830s who falls in love with a woman ten years older than him. I got bored just writing that out so maybe there is a consensus on Rotten Tomatoes about how shit it is.

Interestingly, Pete’s credited as Peter Doherty (I guess acting is a lot more of a serious business than music, hence the extra R) and his character is called Octave. I’m assuming this is some kind of ‘cool’ meta thing referring to his other career as a musician. Gotta love that kind of stuff.

Not deterred by the negativity surrounding his previous movie, Pete has given it another shot and is now starring in horror movie The Second Coming, which you can see a trailer for below and looks kind of like the type of thing some 18 year old hipster doing film studies might make in his spare time. My absolute favourite part of the trailer had to be where it announces that it’s ‘based on the poem by William Yeats’.

Give me a fucking break.
