Police say the man was carrying a knife and was wearing a device resembling a suicide vest.

He tried to enter the police station on the rue de la Goutte d’Or in Barbes in the 18th arrondissement of Paris.

Witnesses say police fired “two of three shots” at him, and he was killed.

This comes on the one year anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo massacre last January and just minutes after French President Francois Hollande had finished paying homage to police officers killed in the line of duty.

Respect to the police dealing with it and potentially averting another tragedy.
