Back in the day when I was growing up, The Legend Of Zelda was one of the must have games and you’ll be able to sing those notes on the ocarina to pretty much anyone of a certain generation and they’ll know exactly what you mean.

Nintendo announced that there was going to be a new Zelda game coming to Wii and their new console NX a long time ago, but they’ve chosen last week’s E3 video game expo to debut the first trailer for the series. It’s called ‘Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild’ and it looks pretty much like your standard Zelda game, only massively massively updated to reflect the developments of the big RPGs of the time these days like Fallout and Skyrim.

It also looks as though Nintendo is going to adopt voice sting for the first time in its history as you can hear Zelda talking a bunch throughout the trailer. The style of the game is kind of reminiscent of Shadow Of Colossus or Metal Gear artwork and whilst it’s not super impressive, it’s pretty stylish and cartoony and fits in with the vibe of the classic game.

Yeah I mean it looks like a classic Zelda game but I suppose now I’m older I’m probably more into games like Fallout where you can kill people and double cross them rather than some super cutesy game like Zelda where you have to fight cartoon bad guys and rock monsters. Probably going to give it a miss to be honest, but stoked that a new generation get to enjoy it.

Hopefully it can define their video game playing youth too, although I think it might have some stiff competition from some of the more ‘tough’ and ‘adult’ games out there. For more nostalgia though, check out this guy recreating Zelda: Ocarina Of Time in today’s graphic engines. Absolutely spectacular.
