Nickelodeon Is Planning To Make New Episodes Of Rugrats And Other Classic 90’s Cartoons

I don’t think there’s any denying that Rugrats was one of the best kids cartoons ever and the adventures of Tommy, Chuckie, Phil & Lil and Angelica – and who could forget Reptar – entertained an entire generation and then probably the one after that too.

I’m not entirely sure when Nickelodeon stopped making new episodes of Rugrats (although I know they made All Grown Up about the babies as teenagers) but I’m pretty sure they must still show repeats of it every now and again because it’s that classic a show that literally everyone can enjoy. So much so that Russell Hicks – the company’s president of content and development – recently said in an interview with Variety that they were currently in the process of rebooting it and other beloved kids shows like Hey Arnold and Victorious:

We are looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way.

We are getting ready to bring back some of the ones that fans have told us multiple times they want to have brought back.

I don’t know what Victorious is but whatever, it would be pretty awesome if Rugrats came back. Apparently it wouldn’t be a lengthy series and wouldn’t be the main focus of the network, but would come back as a miniseries or TV movie, which sounds perfectly fine to me.

It’s also aimed at kids who grew up watching it now having something to watch and enjoy with their children, which is a pretty good idea. I don’t have any kids though and would probably just watch it anyway. We would have to hope that the reboots didn’t turn out like these interpretations of our favourite 90s cartoons – where they’ve all grown up to have drug addictions.
