These days, no movie is safe from getting the Hollywood reboot treatment and it looks like the next in line is the 1999 classic ‘The Matrix’. And it’s being remade by Warner Bros.

The company has said that it is in the early stages of preparing a reboot of the Wachowskis’ original, with plans to broaden the universe in the same way that Disney is doing with ‘Star Wars’.

Apparently, screenwriter Zak Penn is in talks to write the treatment with producers hoping to book Michael B. Jordan (from ‘Creed’) for the lead role.

I’m sure most of you will agree that this is a terrible idea. There were two sequels to the original – ‘The Matrix Reloaded’ and ‘The Matrix Revolutions’ – both of which were whack. On top of that, the movie was only made in 1999 for fuck’s sake. Do we really need a remake already? It seems that Hollywood is on an absolute shameless quest for remake inspiration and already they’re running out of movies to ruin. It’s insane – come up with some original ideas guys.

I guess Hollywood is doomed. After all, Martin Scorsese says that modern cinema is complete and utter bullshit these days. And he knows what he’s on about.
