The cast-iron megaballs displayed in the Meet The Superhumans ad campaign for the 2012 Paralympics left us whimpering like wimps. Is there anything these guys can’t do? Other than bungeeing from a helicopter whilst strumming Bohemian Rhapsody on a ukulele, apparently not much. Just ask Sue Austin, a Devonshire artist who, when diagnosed with ME, embraced the journey into her wheels by challenging herself beyond all expectations.
Stories like Sue’s and the Paralympians’ change our perception of what is possible for disabled people. To merely physically exist isn’t enough. No legs? No sweat!
