The National Autistic Society has released a video highlighting the sensory overload experienced by many autistic people during their everyday lives, in an attempt to help others understand what it’s like.

It follows a report which found that half of all autistic people (there are about 700,000 in the UK) sometimes won’t leave the house because they worry about how people will react to them.

From the comments I’ve seen regarding this video around the web, some people who claim to be autistic say it’s nothing like this at all, while others are saying it’s spot on.

Obviously it’s important to remember that autism is a spectrum, so not all people who identify as being autistic will experience the same thing. Either way, videos like this can only help in raising awareness for the condition and teaching us all to be more considerate of others in general.
