This is great, like really great. You know when you see a TV Show or movie advertised on YouTube as like a cartoon or Lego or something else which means it’s been condensed? And 9/10 times it’s really crap or unfunny? Well this is the complete opposite of that because it’s fucking hilarious, although if you ahven’t seen The Wire you probably won’t get it. But then who the hell hasn’t seen The Wire?
This is just a LEGO version of The Wire that manages to condense pretty much the entire show into 4 minutes and make it hilarious too. Some of the names are changed to make them more ‘LEGO’ e.g. Avon Barksdale becomes Avon Bloxdale, and Marlowe becomes DUPLO and instead of talking about drugs they talk about blocks instead, which might not sound that funny written down but it’s pretty funny when you’re watching it. I think the best thing is though that there are so many great little references to the TV show and so many of it’s great lines are repeated – ‘You come at the King, you best not miss,’ ‘I’m real police,’ ‘We handle this like businessmen’ – but it’s just so much more hilarious when all the characters are made out of Lego. And almost all the characters are there: Lt Daniels, Carcetti, Snoop, Omar, Stringer Bell, Bunk, Lester Freamon etc. Even Ziggy and his pet duck make an appearance. My favourite character in the adaptation though has gotta be McNulty (just like it was in the real The Wire) because he’s just constantly carrying around a drink and falling over and making out with other Lego characters. It’s seriously something else. They nailed it.
