A jealous girlfriend has been arrested after she pretended to be a police officer for over two years in order to control her ex-boyfriend.

21-year-old Lauren Adderley did this by using “sophisticated catfish style behaviour” to convince Mitchell Lloyd, 22, that he was under police investigation. He had to adhere to strict curfews, which prevented him from going to certain places and seeing other girls. Unreal.

Apparently this whole plan completely ruined his social and dating life. It might be utterly psychotic and unfair what this girl did, but you’ve got to hand it to her – the plan did work.

Adderley took on the identity of more than one officer to prevent him from seeing certain friends and other girls and if he didn’t comply, she threatened him with legal action.

Before you start assuming that Lloyd is not the sharpest tool in the shed, wait until you hear how she did it. Basically, it all started when the pair struck up a brief sexual relationship back in 2014. After two months (all this for a two month relationship?) Lloyd broke it off with Adderley, at which point she said she had been the victim of a crime.

She then asked if Lloyd would provide a statement to the police for her, which he agreed to and it’s then that she took on the persona of officer ‘Robert Hay’. Between December 2014 and February 13 this year, Adderley persistently contacted her victim using three email addresses belonging to fictional officers. She also used two fake Facebook accounts pretending to be her own friends in order to rip into Lloyd if he dated any other girls.

Adderley allegedly also threatened to commit suicide after she found out he was seeing someone from work and the next day a fake copper told him to end the relationship. The consistent control left Lloyd feeling terrorised, isolated and depressed.

Eventually he went to the police in February this year (it’s about time mate) which led to Adderley’s arrest. She’s been jailed for nine months, although if you ask me jail isn’t really the appropriate action for this girl. Clearly she’s got severe mental problems and potentially a personality disorder. Surely intensive therapy would be the right way to treat her – otherwise in nine months she’s just going to get out of jail and find her next victim. I feel sorry for the poor guy already.
