Four football players who played for popular team Al-Shabab have been beheaded by ISIS militants after they accused the players of spying for the protection unit, Kurdish YPG.

Apparently the extremists had already banned organised sport such as football when they took over Raqqa in Syria a couple of years ago, as they consider the sport to be ‘anti-Islamic’. A group of militants even killed 13 teenage boys last year after they were caught watching a game of footy.

The victims of ISIS’s latest atrocity include Osama Abu Kuwait, Ihsan Al Shuwaikh, Nehad Al Hussen and Ahmed Ahawakh. A fifth man, who is unidentified, was also killed.

After murdering the players, the twisted fighters then made a group of children, who were fans of the footballers, check the corpses. So messed up.

RIP to all of those involved in the killings and to their families. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to live in a place where you’ve got to be careful of something as simple as playing sport. It makes you realise how lucky we are.

ISIS militants have become so brutal in their methods, they’ve even turned to boiling their own soldiers alive.
