ISIS seem to be pursuing more and more ridiculous policies lately as their campaign against the west seems to be in decline, and I don’t think I’ve heard of anything more stupid than this latest piece of news.

Yes, in a move that makes no real sense to anyone, ISIS have decided to ban football referees in Syria because they enforce the rules of FIFA and not the rules of Sharia. Obviously that is a big, big issue over there.

According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory of Human Rights, these are the rules that have been implemented for the new football league season starting in the territory around Deir ez-Zor:

Isis commanders told organisers of local games that referees would be banned because their decisions ‘do not judge according to what Allah has revealed’ and are ‘a violation of Allah’s command and the Sunnah.’

Commanders have also drawn up a list of rules which describe how an injured player can receive compensation from their opponents, or exact revenge, under Sharia law.

I mean seriously can’t these guys just chill out? It’s a game and a game has rules, not everything has to be applied to Sharia law does it? Does it?

Amazingly, one player is thankful that these rules have been implemented. That’s because if the league was run under the banner of FIFA then they wouldn’t be able to play at all and it would be scrapped entirely under this new initiative. Talk about a bunch of spoilsports eh?

For more details of people being dicks to referees, check out this story from Brazil. Shocking doesn’t even begin told describe it.
