Some unknown guy thought that it would be a good idea to strap a GoPro to his head and then jump off one of the highest dams in the world, the Matilija Dam in California.

And to be fair to him it was a pretty good idea as he seems to be OK after his landing and the video is probably going to make him some money from going viral. The only thing is that nobody knows his name so he won’t actually make it into the record books. That’s got to be a bit of a bummer.

The dam itself is 170 feet high at its highest point and 120 feet at its lowest. I think this dude jumped off at its lowest point and managed to reach speeds of 70mph whilst he was falling. All kinds of nope.

Yeah, like I said, all kinds of nope. Apparently the dude is a trained professional so if you live anywhere near that dam or anywhere near a dam of a similar size then you shouldn’t try this yourself. I’d like to think that everyone reading this probably isn’t stupid enough to try this themselves, but just in case I thought I had better include that line.

What about the dam itself though? Why the hell does it have a pair of scissors on it and a dotted line? That’s kind of a cool design feature on it I suppose?
