3) Reduce Clink Time With Books

This is awesome, well done Brazil. If you’ve found yourself in a Brazilian jail (unlucky) all is not lost. Prisoners are encouraged to read books and produce a report on the subject matter. If the report is considered good enough you get 4 days off your sentence. The idea being that criminals will leave prison more enlightened and less likely to commit crimes.
I’m assuming The Anarchists Cook Book isn’t on the reading list. Four days isn’t much time though is it? You’d have to read 91 books to get a year off your stay. Well, I guess they can’t make it too easy otherwise the country would be running wild with well-read murderers and rapists.
