Yesterday there were rumours flying around that a deal had been done and that the long rumoured Conor McGregor/Floyd Mayweather super fight was going to be announced in the very near future.

Everybody was like “yeah, sure, heard that one before” and it turns out that we were 100% correct. Floyd Mayweather himself has now revealed that a deal is nowhere near close to being done:

Yeah, no chance. The business with the UFC that Floyd is referring to there is the fact that McGregor’s contract with the UFC is watertight and has him locked in for his next four fights. As such, some sort of deal would have to be reached with them in order to make the fight happen and at the moment it seems like they’re very reluctant to do anything about it.

That’s because the company just got bought for $4 billion and the new owners don’t want to undermine their investment by immediately having their biggest star compete in some kind of cross promotion fight with a boxer. Can’t say I blame them really. Maybe we’ll see Mayweather vs. McGregor in three of four year’s time.

In the meantime, check out the list of insults that the two have been sending each other over the years. They really need to step into the ring and sort it out.
