Family Forced To Move Out Of Dream Mansion After Receiving Threatening Letters Straight Out Of A Horror Movie

This sounds like the plot to a horror blockbuster but the scariest part about it is that it’s actually happening now in real life.

It’s the story of the Broaddus family, who purchased a $1.3million mansion up in Westfield, New Jersey. Three days after the purchase was final but before they had moved in, the family started receiving threatening letters at their current address from someone identifying himself only as ‘The Watcher’, who claims to be part of a legacy of people that have watched over the house for over 90 years.

The Broaddus family are obviously scared shitless after reading these letters (some of which you can read below and on the slideshow) and have refused to move into the property after The Watcher seemingly threatened their three young children. They’re also suing the house’s previous owners John and Andrea Woods as they feel that they knew about The Watcher but failed to disclose they information before the sale.

I don’t think you can blame the Woods for that though because nobody is going to want to move into a house that constantly receives threatening letters are they? And it’s pretty much a given that you’re going to be desperate to get out yourself. You would probably pass the buck in that situation if you could because nobody would want to experience that.

At the time of writing, the true identity of The Watcher is still unknown, but the mayor of Westfield is now involved and pledged to find out who he is and stop him from harassing the inhabitants of the mansion. Unfortunately, their efforts so far have been fruitless – much like in a great horror movie. Let’s hope they to stop this psychopath somehow.

Here are a few of the letters that he has sent the Broaddus family. They’re absolutely terrifying – I’m getting chills just writing about them:

The Watcher 3

Why are you here? I will find out.

My grandfather watched the house in the 1920s and my father watched in the 1960s. It is now my time. Do you need to fill the house with the young blood I requested?

Once I know their names I will call to them and draw them to me.

I asked the (prior owners) to bring me young blood. And now I watch and wait for the day when they (sp) young blood will be mine again.’
