A video of a dog emerged earlier this week of him nudging his dead dog friend. The footage quickly went viral, as people thought that it portrayed the stray desperately trying to rouse his buddy.

However, turns out it’s not quite as heartbreaking as it seems – apparently the dog is just trying to get her to stand up so they can mate.

The video was taken in the northwestern Russian town of Torzhok and shows the stray dog standing over the body of another after she had been accidentally run down by a car. Many people online made comments about the dog’s loyalty, with one person saying, “this is what love is.” But alas, it’s not a beautiful story of love – the dog was just trying to get his end away.
