Although we might be busy getting caught up in the Christmas festivities, Amnesty International wants to remind you that the government does not take a break from spying on your every move.

Amnesty International have created a ‘Snowden Out Of Office’ voicemail using Snowden’s actual voice, which reminds you that many people are being watched and recorded by the government. The group is urging people to use it as their voicemail greeting.

Snowden’s message is as follows:

You are being watched and recorded. You don’t have to have done anything wrong. You simply have to fall under suspicion from somebody. They can go back in time and scrutinize every decision you ever made and every friend you ever discussed something with and attack you on that basis.

This message is actually part of a wider campaign and online petition that is calling on Obama to pardon Snowden before he leaves office (because we all sure as hell know that Trump ain’t gonna do it). Snowden is currently being prosecuted by the U.S. government for revealing their mass surveillance program. Fingers crossed Obama listens because currently Snowden is stuck in Russia.
