If you’ve ever had one too many on a night out then you probably already know that getting wasted and doing stupid shit are synonymous with one another. Whether it’s stealing a traffic cone and wearing it like a hat, ending up in a police cell for the night or slaughtering your mate in cold blood with, amongst other things, a microwave because in your drunken state you’ve convinced yourself he’s a zombie, we’ve all been there.

Jamie Ather is no different, or so he found out when he woke up one morning following a heavy night on the town to discover that he had spent £520 on a flight to Brazil from Glasgow. The last thing you need when you’ve got a banging hangover is to look at your bank account and find half a grand missing. The logical course of action would be to get a refund, but airlines are money grabbing fuckers so that idea was dead in the water and they rejected Jamie’s attempts immediately.

Well, at least if he had no other choice but to go, and actually dreamed of one day going to Brazil, he could be optimistic about it. To book something like that right in the middle of riding out a monumental jetski wave – well it’d be fair to say visiting the country must have been high up on his bucket list, right?

I had absolutely no memory of doing it because I was drunk, and it had honestly never even crossed by mind to go to South America.

Oh fair play, J-Man, just a sikcunt living life and not giving a fuck then, I like it. Nevertheless, he went ahead with the trip with an open mind and ended up having a pretty wild time. The trip encompassed an array of unusual and memorable experiences, the highlights of which Jamie shared on his Instagram account. From a trip to a sloth sanctuary:

He also continued his alcohol-fuelled fun by partying in Rio on a beach, not letting the fact that he was travelling alone hold him back:

Everyone who knows me knows that I was so nervous about going to South America on my own, so it has given me loads of confidence to have gone and to have actually had an amazing time. It has really made me realise that you just need to take risks sometimes and get over your fear if you want to get the most from life.

Sound advice. Although he did get fairly lucky with his destination, imagine if he’d drunkenly booked a trip here instead.
