Don’t watch this video if you don’t want to have nightmares tonight.

A 12 year old girl in India named Shreya Darji, from Deesa, Gujurat, has told doctors that ants started crawling out of her ears last August. Roughly ten a day crawl out and bizarrely it doesn’t cause her any pain at all, even on the rare occasions that the ants bite her inside of her ear.

Since last August, doctors estimate that they’ve removed around 1000 ants from Shreya’s ear – but the nest shows no signs of disappearing as more and more ants continue to be born inside her ear and escape. Dr Jawahar Talsania a senior Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon explains:

We have conducted all possible scans on the child including an MRI and CT scan but they are all normal.

We cannot find any abnormality in her ears. She doesn’t experience any kind of pain — despite the ants biting her — and no damage has been found to the eardrums.

The family live a normal life and they have a healthy environment so we can’t even blame their living conditions. We’ve not seen anything like this in our medical history.

We’ve tried to suffocate the ants but they continue to breed. We don’t know what to do.

Jesus Christ. That video made me wiggle around in my seat and makes me want to have a shower and puke all at the same time. I feel so sorry for that little girl. I mean it’s a good thing that they aren’t hurting her but man, if I knew that I had a bunch of ants or anything squirming around in my ear I would feel absolutely disgusting all the time. I don’t even want to think about it again. I hope they manage to figure it out for her sake.
