We need more studies like this to come out. According to scientists from the University of Gottingen, Germany, a lads’ night out is genuinely good for your health.

The reason for this is because male bonding is a stress reliever. Also, men suffer less anxiety when out with male friends as apposed to partners or families — so basically next time your girlfriend or boyfriend starts moaning about ditching them for your mates, just explain it’s better for your mental health. I’m sure that will go down really well.

The research surveyed male monkeys and their bonding patterns. The male stress hormone levels soared when with a partner or family, and relaxed when in a group of male buddies.

Created by Readiris, Copyright IRIS 2007Christopher Young of the university’s Primate Social Evolution Group said:

If male primates live in multimale groups they usually fight fiercely over access to females, but males can develop friendly relationships with a few group mates.

Sort of like in real life. I mean how many times do guys fight over some girl? Take that out of the equation — no stress and you’re free to have a good night out.

Of course, this study doesn’t mention anything about alcohol and other substances, which I think most likely have some detrimental affect to your health. This poor guy didn’t even live to see the sunrise after a particularly boozy one.
