15 McDonald’s franchises in Colorado (where smoking weed is legal) have announced that they’re converting their McDonald’s Play Place areas into marijuana-friendly smoking sections. Each restaurant will install 15 smoking pods in which customers can smoke joints, bongs or pipes without being interrupted by anyone offended by it.

The pods are not only built to contain the weed smoke within their small space, they also get rid of the smoke through the ventilation tube above the pod in a way that won’t allow it to filter into the main restaurant. Boom — everyone’s happy.

So it looks like Maccy D’s over in Colorado have a new main demographic they’re catering to and it’s not little kids looking for Happy Meal toys. Pretty savvy move by McDonald’s recognising that most adults who eat McDonald’s are stoned off their faces, so it only makes sense to allow them to get baked in the restaurant as opposed to the car park before chowing down.

One thing they should have done is left the Play Places there too though, instead of outright replacing them with smoking pods. Imagine eating your Chicken McNuggets, having a smoke and then diving into one of those massive pools filled with plastic balls while baked off your nut. Pretty much the perfect day out really.

P.S. I wonder if the most ghetto McDonald’s in America has its own smoking section?
