I don’t know what the hell Celine Dion has been doing since Titanic finally finished its run at the movies sometime in the tail end of 2008. That’s not a typo, I’m pretty sure it was on at the cinema for that long because there were definitely retards who went to see it about 17 times when it was out at the cinema. I remember hearing about one weirdass Italian woman who went to the same showing every night for 3 months. I mean I know it was a good movie – a really good movie – but get a life and do something with it other than seeing the same movie over and over again.
Anyway, I guess Celine Dion kinda faded into obscurity because you can’t really do anything when your most famous song is associated with the biggest movie ever and you don’t have any other songs. I think I read something about her overcoming brain cancer and maybe having a residency in Vegas over the past ten years but I can’t be sure of either of those things though. I’m pretty sure she’s probably worried about her status as Canada’s most successful musical export ever following the recent team up of Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger which is no doubt an effort to try to usurp her from this title with some kind of bizarre pop/rock/punk/grunge song about their love for one another that they’re hoping will gain popularity because it’s coming from Hollywood’s new A-list couple and will be like, so, from the heart, you know?
So how does she respond to this news and attempt to somehow remain relevant in the public eye? By doing a completely weird photoshoot for VMA magazine, obviously. To be honest not all the photographs are that weird, it’s just the one where she’s dressed in a rabbit mask with cuddly rabbit toys taped to her legs. I mean, maybe if Lady Gaga did that sure? But Celine Dion?? You kind of expect Celine Dion to be going on charity walks up mountains or campaigning to save the environment, she’s kind of like one of your mate’s average looking mom’s or something. She isn’t cool or edgy or hip or alternative or anything.
That is until now and these photos, because damn is she looking fine in some of these. I’ve gotta wonder why they’re actually happening, has she got Timbaland to record her new record and she’s attempting to re-market herself? Is she just blowing off some steam? If she was making a comeback that would be pretty incredible (in a sense that she’s even willing to try, not that it would be exciting or good) but I can’t really see her doing that or anyone being that interested in it. I guess that’s why she’s doing these photos. We can only wait and see. I doubt Sick Chirpse will bother covering it though. In the meantime enjoy these photos, I know I will. She looks a bit like Ron Perlman’s wife in Sons of Anarchy who is kinda hot but only because she’s so sassy. With Celine Dion it’s more like my mate’s mom suddenly got hot and turned into a slutty model, thumbs up:
