A few weeks ago we featured a video of one of the cables on one of those slingshot rides snapping as it was getting ready to be propelled into the air and that was terrible enough, but now footage has emerged of one of the cables snapping whilst it was actually in motion and that is just next level terrifying.
The accident happened at Luna Park in the south of France and one woman who was riding it broke her leg after the slingshot smashed into a railing right after the cable had snapped. Her boyfriend managed to escape with minor bruising but I’m sure he’ll probably never go on another roller coaster ride again after this. They were also left hanging on the ride – the woman presumably with a broken leg – for over an hour before firefighters were able to rescue them. Grim.
The ride has been closed (obviously) and an investigation is being conducted into how the hell this was allowed to happen, but it isn’t really much use after the event is it? To be honest, between stuff like this going on and The Smiler crash that happened earlier this summer, I’m not surprised places like Alton Towers are completely empty at the moment. Roller coasters have actually finally become way too terrifying to actually ride. Although, now’s a perfect time to go to Alton Towers according to this.
