Ever the fast food restaurant to constantly push the envelope, Burger King are introducing the latest in their food amalgams with the Whopperrito.

As you might guess by the name, it’s a Whopper contained in a burrito. As you might also have guessed, it in no way looks as appetising as the promo picture that you can see above. Here’s a more accurate representation:

Well, at least the dude says that it tastes good, right? Not sure I believe him.

Of course, we’re not going to find out any time soon because the Whopperrito is currently only available in North America. However, it has made the nationwide menu which means that there is a chance we might be seeing them over here sometime soon.

In case you’re wondering, the Whopperrito does have slightly more to it than just being a Whopper in a burrito, as Burger King’s North American President Alex Macedo explains:

We’re infusing classic American fare with Tex-Mex flare.

The Whopperrito is a new interpretation of the Tex-Mex trend in a way that only Burger King restaurants could imagine.

It will contain the same beef patty Whopper lovers are used to, but will be seasoned differently. It’s then wrapped up in a flour tortilla with tomatoes, lettuce, onions and pickles, and queso sauce.

The idea came from a franchisee who is part of our innovation committee.

He called and said, ‘I think I’m onto something.’

We took his idea and added what makes this unique — which is the sauce and mix of spices for the beef.

Unique, right – I guess that’s one way to describe it. Whilst it’s a good idea on paper and it looks great in the promo shots, I’m just not really that up for it after seeing that guy’s Instagram picture. I’d still like to have the option though, so I hope it does make it over to this side of the pond.

Pretty much echoing my feelings about Burger King hot dogs really. Looks great on paper, disgusting in reality.
