BMW chief exec Harald Krueger was 5 minutes into his presentation on the company’s electric i8 super car when he started looking a little woozy — eventually staggering backwards and falling over in a state of confusion.

BMW spokesman Maximillian Schoberl said afterwards that Krueger had been feeling unwell before he went on stage:

They’ll now have to conduct the press conference at a later date, although I guess they still a fair bit of attention from the mishap.

The i8 car is powered by an electric motor and has a1.5 litre three-cylinder petrol engine. It recharges its lithium ion batteries using its engine, with the battery power then driving the electric motor. If that sounds interesting, check out these 6 concept cars that could become a reality one day.

This was Krueger’s first appearance at the Frankfurt Auto Show following his election as head of BMW in May. So not the greatest of on-stage debuts then.

Here’s hoping he just had a light breakfast or something and this isn’t indicative of some kind of health problem.
