My boy Pat, who lives in Washington DC, turned me onto this Tumblr site related to my hometown of Baltimore. I know that a lot of you are fans of The Wire, but many – especially Brits – have questioned if Baltimore is really as David Simon’s show portrayed it. My answer has always been “Yes. Seasons 3 through 5 of The Wire is derived from what Baltimore was like in the mid to late 1990s.” After Giuliani pushed every vice out of New York, they all seemed to moved to Baltimore. And, based on this Baltimore-based Tumblr, That Guy’s On Heroin, it’s looks like they all stayed.
I’m guessing the writer for the Tumblr is some Hopkins student, who will be back in his native Connecticut in a couple years, but wanted to show his friends how “hard” it is in Baltimore. Here’s a couple of the best pictures from the tumblr, but click HERE if you want to see some more.
